about

This song has undergone a lot of changes since I presented the first draft to the band. A lot of the first riffs has been changed (for the better), a lot has been scrapped, several things have been added and the general feel of the song has been smoothened out. We worked on the song separately, together, at night, during day etc. and it is probably the song that has been the subject of most discussion. At one point I actually think we thought about scrapping the song entirely... I'm glad we didn't! I think the first riffs were written about three years ago..

As for the lyrics, I wanted this song to stand out, to be the end of An Architect's Revelation without being a part of the story, more like a conclusion, an explanation of what the story is about. The inspiration came from films like Traffic, Magnolia, Crash etc. where several stories intertwine with one another. Inspiration also came from books like Nineteen Eighty-Four, Fight Club and albums like Protest the Hero's Kezia, Blood Brothers' ...Burn, Piano Island, Burn and The Fall of Troy's GhostShip demoes and Phantom on the Horizon.
The general theme of the story is blame and responsibility, about taking responsibility for your actions, for your beliefs and for your participation in society. Every person presented in the story is in some way a victim and offender. And most of them die because of it. That is kind of my way of saying that in society you have to participate, behave, and make room for everyone else. However, this goes both ways, people around you have to make room for you as well, and this is a critical point for the story. There is no room for the Leslie, Celeste, Sean, Josie and Mr. Smith. They try to evolve without nutrition, ”Damn these constellations, and the things we had to kill, to sink our teeth into your fabricated prison cell,” meaning damn these circumstances that make us sacrifice what we love to do to fit in. This is a sub-point in the story, I chose Celeste, Sean and the architect to be creative, to be artists. They give up their passions to fit in, only to get screwed over by the people around them. All of this seems quite depressing, but the story is not about pity, because pity makes us point fingers at those who we think are to blame. And blame often leads to punishment, and I believe that punishment is a vengeful act, without any positive, beneficial or constructive results.
So, Revelations is about what I like to call birds and aeroplanes. Birds, because they are beautiful, pack animals and they fly. We as humans try to be beautiful and we build aeroplanes to be able to fly, to, and I know this sounds cheesy, be free, and be able to do what we damn well please. But in order to be free, to me it seems that cooperation is inevitable, trust is crucial and the birds and aeroplanes is what drives society, art and culture.

lyrics

Damn these constellations, and the things we had to kill
to sink our teeth into your fabricated prison cell
Damn these constellations, our hearts' stronger than your will
and yet we are the characters appeased by booze and pills

I wouldn't dare you to take a breath underwater
Or throw you off a cliff without any wings
and while you are burning your children
we all feel the flames singing oh so beautiful things

simple leaves from enigmatic trees
hits the ground with monstrous force and speed
the taste of dirt and blood is not as sweet
in limbo the simple leaves retreat

I'll cast these revelations and feel lucky that I'm here
to tear your protocol apart and make it disappear
I'll cast these revelations and feel lucky that I'm here
to drown my self-imposed incompetence in piss and tears

so quit distorting our names and prosecuting strength
as long your words are flawed we'll favor bruises over shame

and we won't budge
'cause these son-of-a-bitches were never to blame for the fact that
forgiveness is the reason we're apart

the people in this story are the gears in your machine
you feed them with a paycheck and erotic magazines

if you wanna die, go do it alone
inside the little headroom of hearts that we found in the dunes of the dream that we shared
not too long ago
take the time to breathe start over again
accost the aberration of kerosene tongues in the mouths of the kings that we trust
to set our wings ablaze

These stories are of those who are too frail to believe that
make-believe is the lack of response in a bitter heart

Birds and aeroplanes are common things that make us look beyond the taste of bad champagne
graves and sewage drains, a hiding place for boys and girls who died in giving everything

Tommy The Warden Aarhus, Denmark

A post-hardcore trio from Aarhus, Denmark who sounds like your iPod going crazy!

Several years ago, rehearsing in a garage, they figured writing their own music was way more awesome than playing other peoples stuff. They soon discovered that progressive songstructures suited the band well, and incorporating several styles of music was how every band member had their say. ... more
